We're not really overseas travelers, apart from PNG (but we were living there), and NZ (but Sandi used to live there), so it's an extremely rare event, this holiday: which is essentially to visit my best friend and his Japanese family.
One of the neat things, imho, that we'll be doing is delivering a wee animation that I did for the project that they've embarked on to establish a facility for disabled people like their son Claudio (see details on GoFundMe): The Kerria Project. The 'kerria' part of the name comes from the flower Kerria japonica which is the floral emblem of Kawagoe (where they live). Anyway, I became captivated with the similarity of a flower bud developing into a full flower and the enriching of these people's daily lives.
The other extremely neat thing is that we'll get to celebrate Easter in Nagasaki, which has not been a dream of mine, but has been in my mind since A Song for Nagasaki became one of my favourite books…
