Version#7 is a significant milestone, and although the Itinerary is not baked in at this point (everything is changeable virtually up to departure day, well, technically it will be modifiable on the Trail as well), but it is unlikely to change drastically from this point on.
The Itinerary Process
See The Proposed Itinerary for a discussion of the development process, but briefly the process is:
- GPX Track entered into spreadsheet
- Route sections classified to calculate walking times
- Breaks added
- Overnight stops added
- Rest days added
- Adjust based on gleanings from Walkers Follow Fence and Heysen Highlights
- Check and correct…
So at this point I consider the Itinerary done and dusted, and we can move onto the Pre and Post Itinerary, after which we can finally get some accommodation booked.
