This is the first ever Community Art Performance I have participated in, let alone run.

The performance of the mosaic is something that developed toward the end of the project. Nat & Mon's friends and family were always an integral part the project: from the collection of the photos to the subject matter of the photos, but the addition of them constructing the mosaic was a wonderful addition to the concept.

The idea of colour separating the piece and cutting the colour layers into tiles that individuals would use to construct the final image added a myriad of layers of meaning to the piece: Not only was the image made up of images of their friends, experiences but their friends and family would also add a specific colour layer to the piece. No one tile worked by itself, but worked in a mystical union with the other tiles to create the final image: Nat and Mon.

The piece took about 85 minutes to put together. I had my heart in my mouth for most of that time. We didn't have a proper PA system and the rain on the roof of the marquee made it difficult for everyone to hear the instructions. But we got to the end, and I was pretty exhausted, but very happy: I had not actually seen the complete piece in this form and was not 100% sure what the quality was going to be like. I am utterly thrilled.
