This blog carries on from: http://mowbray-house.blogspot.com/
So where are we up to?
- We've put a TPO to remove all the horrid trees on the block (most of them).
- We've accepted a quote from a local tree man to remove 4 of them and a couple of stumps ($2,200)
- Jesse's drawn up the existing house so that we can start planning what we want to so.
I've put some images and plans here: An aerial photograph from last Centrury and the original plans that Jesse drew.
What are we going to put into the front yard?
At the moment the space is filled with a huge Liquidambar, 2 Cupresus and an indigenous Bloodwood (check out the aerial photograph or the front elevation). The Bloodwood is staying but all the others are going (in about three weeks). So what will we put back in that space? The TPO put a condition on our consent that we must put a tree back that had the height of one of the Cupresus.
At the moment we are wondering along these lines (we're keen to have it producing too):
What do you think?
The front of the house faces East (possibly will be a dining room in NE corner and bathroom in the SE corner) and will overlook this space; the rooms get some reasonable long views toward the NE down the valley, and all importantly we get the morning sun from this quarter.
And it's the front of the house, so it's got to look a little respectable, eh? Any comments about the letter box??
