The Australian Alps Walking Track is a ~660km walk from Victoria up to Canberra (or visa-versa) across the high peaks and plateaus of our Alps; although our walk is about 784km with as many side trips as we could fit in… planning has been well under way since March when we purchased the AAWT Bible and started converting it into a spreadsheet (source for the tables below).
For an up-to-the-minute update of our location see our SPOT Shared Page.
The Summary table lists the day's destination and the total km, Time (in hours), Ascend and Descend (in metres) and Difficulty (using my own rating calculation). 41 days walking with 4 planned rest days: 784km, 370 hours and ~35km up and ~33km down.
The Itinerary is broken down into days (an interesting concept, I know), with approximate arrival times (that can be amazingly accurate: you can check these against our SPOTs as they come in). There is also a weather link that loads the weather for the location.

GPSVisualiser does a great job of creating a pretty coloured spaghetti strand… where you should be able to locate us fairly exactly.

Hi Sandi and Perry, - as usual I am totally envious! But I have done some amazing walks over here in Europe. Not as long or continuous ones as yours, but still pretty nice day-outings in Switzerland, Scandinavia and Germany. I’ll be following your trip. Lots of love from Sister Humilita
