If you've followed our walks you would have come to realise that I like to plan, maybe over plan
So I've used the excellent WildWalks Track Notes to extract the walk sections which I've used to compile an Itinerary in Excel. We're planning to walk North to South, so I had to turn the WildWalk instruction around We may also walk with TheGreatNorthWalk's EZGuide and companion, as that's configured North to South and it seems like a fun idea to read it along the way.
I find Excel a great tool to break up the walk into walkable sections, which then feeds into the menu and food parcel requirements, etc. It also does neat conditional formatting to make pretty tables: each column is coloured Red (biggest) to Green (smallest), which gives a visual clue to the relative difficulty of the day. There are some big and long days here, but overall it's a bit of a romp through 17 days, with some quite easy days sprinkled along the way.
